Pirilampos do Planeta

Pirilampos do Planeta (CCBB)

[2024 edition] Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais | Brazil

At CCBB's invitation, Pública was responsible for the curation and artistic direction of the installation that occupied the building's central courtyard from December '24 to February '25. The proposal was to create a new conception of the installation "Fireflies of the Planet," a work from the Festa da Luz collection. Developed by artistic director Juliana Flores and architect Camila Schimdt, the new design reconfigured the installation in the format of a luxurious chandelier, establishing a dialogue with the building's architecture and other exhibitions in the space. The work, created by artists Flávio Carvalho and Lula Dufrayyer, uses plastic waste as raw material, bringing to light discussions about sustainability and material reuse through art.

Festa da Céu

[2025 edition] Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais | Brazil

In the courtyard of CCBB, Festa no Céu, by Daiara Tukano, unfolds as a suspended flock composed of 104 translucent birds, arranged in a large-scale mobile that moves slowly and continuously through the space. Distributed across four flight positions, the birds cast iridescent reflections onto the architecture, spreading their colors across walls and floor and making light an essential part of the work. Designed with the hori graphic patterns of the Ye’pá Mahsã people, found in basketry, ceramics, and body painting, the birds evoke a cosmological narrative in which the first women gave rise to the birds, marking the emergence of colors, languages, images, and dreams. Installed at CCBB, the flock reinscribes this ancestral memory into the exhibition space and creates an experience of passage through body, light, and movement, where the sky emerges as a living territory of transmission and continuity.
